Golders Green developed almost entirely after 1907, when the Northern line was extended out to a new terminus at Golders Green. The arrival of the Tube triggered a building boom — the area went from being essentially open fields to a fully developed Edwardian and inter-war suburb in less than a generation. The Golders Green Hippodrome, which opened in 1913 as a music hall, became a major BBC concert venue.
